Graphene coatings are ceramic coatings with graphene oxide added to the formula. On the car they behave the way a good ceramic coating does — a hard, slick layer bonded to the clear coat that sheds water and makes the car far easier to wash — and the graphene is there for extra slickness and, by the manufacturers' account, less water spotting as the car dries.
It is worth being straight about what that means. A graphene coating is not a different category of protection and it is not armor: it will not stop a stone chip or a key, and how long it lasts depends on the product and on how the car is washed afterwards far more than on the word on the bottle. What it does well is what a ceramic coating does well, with a finish some owners prefer.
The application is the same careful sequence as any coating. The paint is washed, decontaminated and clayed, corrected where swirl marks need to come out, wiped back to bare clear coat, and only then coated panel by panel. Because that preparation varies so much from car to car, the price is quoted after we look at the paint — a couple of photos is enough to start.

Look at the paint
In good light we check what is on the panels and tell you honestly whether the car needs correction before it is coated, and what that adds.

Wash, decontaminate, clay
A full hand wash, iron and tar removal, then clay. The coating has to bond to the clear coat, not to whatever is sitting on it.

Correct where needed
Swirls and light scratches are polished out now. Once the coating cures, whatever is underneath is sealed in.

Panel wipe and apply
Every polishing oil is wiped off, then the coating goes on panel by panel and is levelled before it flashes.

Cure
It needs to stay dry while it hardens. You get the aftercare instructions for the first week, and the one rule for good: no brush washes.

Does graphene coating stop scratches and rock chips?
No. It resists light marring, water spotting and chemical etching from bird droppings and road salt. A stone chip or a key goes through any coating.
