A ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that cures into a hard, slick layer bonded to your clear coat. Water sheets off it, road film and brake dust struggle to stick, and washing the car gets dramatically easier. It is not a wax that sits on top for a few months — properly applied full ceramic lasts two to three years.
In this city that matters more than it does elsewhere. Pittsburgh roads are heavily salted from December through March, and salt brine is what quietly eats paint and trim. A coated car spends the winter with a barrier between the salt and the clear coat, and the spring wash actually takes the winter off.
Two options are offered. Hybrid ceramic runs twelve months or more and is the sensible choice if you want the protection without the full preparation. Pickups, three-row SUVs and vans get coated the same way a sedan does — the difference is the amount of paint. A crew cab with a bed has far more panel area than a sedan, the prep and the polishing take longer, and that is why the price list gives a range rather than one number: a truck lands toward the upper end of it, a small car toward the lower. Trucks that live outside and see salted roads all winter are the vehicles the coating does the most for.

Decide what the paint needs
A coating is only as good as the surface under it. We look at the paint and tell you honestly whether it should be polished first, and what that adds.

Wash, decontaminate, clay
A full hand wash, iron and tar removal, then clay. The coating has to bond to bare clear coat, not to whatever is sitting on it.

Polish if needed
Any correction happens now, while the paint is still accessible. Once the coating cures, whatever is underneath is sealed in for years.

Panel wipe and apply
The paint is wiped down to strip every polishing oil, then the coating is applied panel by panel and levelled in a tight window before it flashes.

Cure
The coating needs to stay dry while it hardens. You get exact instructions for the first week — mainly keep it out of the rain at first, and off the brush washes for good.

Does ceramic coating stop scratches?
No, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. It resists light marring and chemical etching from bird droppings and road salt. It will not stop a stone chip or a key.
Why does the price range so widely?
Because the preparation does. A two-year-old car in good condition needs far less work than a ten-year-old daily driver with oxidized paint, and the coating cannot go on until the paint is right. You get the exact number after we see the car.
Can I still take it through a car wash?
Touchless, yes. Brush washes will dull the coating and put swirls back into the paint under it, which defeats the point of having paid for it.
